Gordon Gardner, LCSW
Life can throw many things our way, and sometimes it is helpful or necessary to have someone to discuss difficult thoughts, emotions, and experiences with. As an individual, Gordon has experienced his own share of the ups and downs life can provide.
He’s been counseling professionally for 11 years, and for the past 6 as a Mental Health therapist. In this time, he has helped many individuals clarify aspects of their lives and situations they have found themselves in.
In therapy, he tries to create an environment where you can feel safe discussing and exploring all aspects of your life experience. He feels cognitive and behavioral therapeutic techniques can be used in tandem with psychodynamic exploration in order to first deal with current issues, and then to better understand oneself and the life events that created their experience up to this point in time. He has experience using DBT, CBT, ACT, and psychodynamic exploration.
He specializes in dealing with Trauma, specifically Complex Trauma and its effects on one’s life. He also has experience with other issues people may be encountering including anxiety, depression, coping skills, LGBTQ+ issues, substance use, narcissistic abuse, relationship issues, OCD, religious trauma/transition and other related issues.
He earned his Master’s degree from Utah State University, which gave him the education and vocabulary for dealing with the psychological aspects of life’s challenges. He also holds a BS in social Anthropology from the University of Utah, which versed him in both the myriad similarities and differences we all as human beings share. He also earned a certificate from the University of Utah in substance use counseling, and he is a member of the LGBTQ-Affirmative Psychotherapist Guild of Utah, Inc.
